The new “F” word
I remember the days when we used to get together to have a conversation, listen to each others anecdotes, gossip, telll funny stories, catch up. Now we don’t have to. We can simply log onto Facebook/Twitter/Google+ etc and know practically everything about each other.
So what do we talk about now? Yesterday, I had lunch with my mother’s friends. The complaints about the “new generations” who can only communicate through their smartphones, who are non-stop texters, tweet every move and like every stupid status went on and on and on. That made me think: every single conversation I’ve had with someone for the past I have no idea how long, involves Facebook.
“But he posted…” “Well, according to Facebook they broke up.” “Did you see the photos on Facebook?”
I would like to think that there is still a point in getting together and having a normal conversation. More importantly I WANT to believe that we can all have a conversation without bringing up the new “F” word.
So are these new vectors of communication really making us more “social”?

Turn the page…
Dear Vancouver,
Our love-and-hate relationship is finally coming to an end. Turns out it was only in my last week that I realized that the “love”side became stronger and eventually overpowered the “hate” side.
So many, laughs, tears, screams, ups and downs all bunched up in the last years. All those moments make up my definition of “Vancouver”.
Thank you for the adventure, good and bad and mostly rainy. Thankfully, it’s time to move on and go back to the place where I truly belong. Thank you Vancouver for opening my eyes, heart, soul and mind; for making me value and understand the meaning of home, opportunity, family and friends.
To all the people who I’ve met, and who will not be forgotten, thanks for being part of this adventure that started with me and ended up with a tiny family of three.
It was quite an interesting ride. Farewell.
